Who was denny Buehler?
Denny Buehler was born and raised in the close-knit community of Greenhills, OH. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy, and had 3 children - Jenny, Mary, and Ed. In 1980 Denny was diagnosed with Leukemia. After trying everything, doctors turned to what was then an experimental treatment...Denny needed a bone marrow transplant.
How did the tournament start?
When Denny had to go to Seattle to receive this experimental treatment, his wife Peggy and his sister Cynthia, who was the bone marrow donor, went too. Denny's other sister, Mary Beth, and the Greenhills community organized the 1st co-ed softball tournament. Denny passed away soon after, but the tournament lives on in his memory, aiding other families within the local community.
